J-1 Work & Travel
USA Programme
Work in the United States while experiencing American culture. The J-1 Work & Travel programme is designed for students and young professionals seeking international work experience and adventure.
About the J-1 Programme
The J-1 Work & Travel programme is a US Department of State cultural exchange programme that allows students from eligible countries to work and travel in the United States during their university breaks.
Participants work in service-oriented positions, typically in hospitality, retail, or amusement parks, and have the opportunity to travel and experience American life. The programme runs for up to four months during the summer period, with some winter programmes also available.
The J-1 differs from the H-2B in that it is specifically designed for students and has a cultural exchange component. Participants are expected to interact with Americans and share their own culture as part of the exchange.
