Training vs Internship
J-1 Trainee
For individuals who have a degree or professional certificate AND at least one year of experience in their occupational field, OR five years of experience in their field. Duration: up to 18 months.
J-1 Intern
For students currently enrolled in a degree programme outside the USA, or who graduated within 12 months before their programme start date. The internship must relate to their field of study. Duration: up to 12 months.
