Seasonal Agricultural Worker Programme (SAWP)
Long-standing bilateral programme between Jamaica and Canada. Jamaican workers come to Canada for 8 weeks to 8 months to work on Canadian farms.
Includes:
- Farm labour : fruits, vegetables, tobacco, flowers
- Contract with guarantee of minimum hours
- Accommodation provided by employer
- Return flights typically covered
Temporary Foreign Worker Programme (TFWP)
Broader programme for various sectors. Employers must demonstrate they have tried to fill positions with Canadian workers before hiring internationally.

- Construction and skilled trades
- Healthcare support roles
- Various service industries
International Mobility Programme (IMP)
Work permits under agreements like CUSMA (formerly NAFTA) or other bilateral arrangements that do not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment.
